Short answer: To track a Fanvue promo, send it through its own Fanvue tracking link, or its own free trial link if the promo is a trial. Then count three things separately: new followers, new subscribers, and what those subscribers spend. A promo worked when the paying fans it brought are worth more than it cost.

  • Fanvue gives you two kinds of new fan, and a promo can win one without the other.
  • One link per promo, named so you can find it later.
  • Spend decides it, especially for trial subscribers.

Full disclosure: we make ShareYourFans®, FreeVues is ours too, and both appear in the tracking steps below. How Fanvue's tracking links, trial links and fan lists behave is taken from Fanvue's help centre, read in September 2026.

1. When has a Fanvue promo actually worked?

A Fanvue promo works when it brings fans who pay, and keep paying, more than the promo cost. On Fanvue that needs one more distinction than on most platforms, because fans can follow you for free.

ResultWhat it isHow to read it
New followersFans who followed for freeA list to message, not yet income
New subscribersFans who paid, or started a trialThe headline number, but not the last word
Spend from those subscribersWhat they paid over the following weeksThe number that says whether to buy again

Fanvue's help centre on Follow for Free explains that followers can receive your messages and see content you make available to followers, but can't see subscriber-only content. A promo that brought mostly followers has done half a job; the other half is yours.

2. How do Fanvue tracking links and free trial links work?

A Fanvue tracking link is a unique link to your page that tells you which promotion sent each visitor and conversion. Fanvue's guide to managing your tracking links says they show which promotional efforts drive traffic and conversions, and that you can create unlimited tracking links.

  • Find them under Creator Tools → Tracking Links. That's also where you'll find the button to create a new free trial link.
  • Make one per promo, and compare conversions, not clicks. Fanvue's link-in-bio guide recommends one link per platform, judged on which converts best rather than which gets the most clicks. The same logic applies to every seller and swap partner.
  • Use a free trial link for trial promos. Fanvue's help centre says a free trial link lets you set how many times it can be used, when it expires and how long the trial lasts, and calls trial links unique shareable links for specific campaigns.
  • Use your lists to follow up. Fanvue fills lists automatically, including Followers, Free Trial Subscribers and Expired Subscribers, so you can message the fans a promo brought in.

3. Setting up Fanvue tracking before the promo starts

Set up tracking before the promo starts, because traffic that arrives through a shared or generic link can't be separated afterwards.

  1. Pick the link type. A tracking link for most promos; a free trial link if the promo offers a trial.
  2. Create it fresh under Creator Tools → Tracking Links.
  3. Label it so you'll recognise it: who, what kind of promo, which day.
  4. Hand it over with your order, your swap caption or your drop submission.
  5. Log the cost: the price, or the post you owe back for a swap.
  6. Check it twice: once after delivery, and again a few weeks later, once subscribers have had time to renew or not.

4. What can you see on ShareYourFans® and FreeVues?

With ShareYourFans® Pro, a tracked order reports its own clicks, subscribers and revenue, which ends the habit of asking sellers for screenshots.

  • Guaranteed gains: GG fans are counted through your tracking link, and GG subscribers through a free trial link. Both creators see the order's progress, and the seller is told automatically when the guarantee is met.
  • Feed posts and mass DMs: on Pro, an order with a tracking link shows what it earned.
  • Drops: you put a Fanvue tracking link in your drop submission, and Pro adds ROI analytics to your drop links.
  • Before buying: when both sides hold Pro, the order shows your shared-fan percentage first.
  • FreeVues: add a Fanvue tracking link named "FreeVues" to your listing, and every click and subscriber from FreeVues shows up on your Fanvue dashboard. Your FreeVues dashboard counts clicks too; subscriber numbers live in Fanvue's own link stats.

5. How do you read a Fanvue promo's results?

Judge each Fanvue promo on its link and its price first, and only then line it up with the others.

  • Many followers, few subscribers. The audience liked you but wasn't ready to pay. Fanvue's guide to mass messaging suggests using the Followers list to nudge those fans toward subscribing; send them a reason.
  • Many trial subscribers, little spend. Expected, to a point. In its guide to running profitable promotions, Fanvue reports that roughly one trial fan in four is still subscribed after 90 days, and that trial fans spend about a fifth of what paying subscribers do over a lifetime. Judge a GG subscribers order by the paying fans left after the trial.
  • Few clicks at all. The seller's audience didn't respond: check niche fit and fan overlap before buying from them again.
  • Subscribers who renew and spend. That's your best audience. Order or swap with them again, using a new link each round.

6. Checklist: track every Fanvue promo

  • One tracking link or free trial link per promo, never shared.
  • A clear name: partner or seller, type, date.
  • The cost written down.
  • Followers, subscribers and spend recorded separately.
  • A follow-up message to new followers.
  • A second check a few weeks later for renewals and spend.
  • Sellers and partners ranked by paying fans, not clicks.

7. Limits and tradeoffs

  • A link only sees its own traffic. A fan who sees a promo, then finds you later through your bio, won't count toward that promo.
  • Trials blur the picture. A trial subscriber looks like a win on day one; the renewal tells the truth.
  • An @username can't be tracked. Some creators hand sellers only their handle; we always recommend a tracking link.
  • Small samples mislead. Judge a seller or partner over several promos, not one.
  • Order analytics are a Pro feature. Free Essentials still leaves you Fanvue's own link stats on every promo. Pro is $35 monthly for one profile, after 7 free days.

FAQ

How do I track whether a Fanvue promo actually worked?

Give the promo its own Fanvue tracking link, or a free trial link if it's a trial offer, and name it after the seller and date. Then compare the followers, subscribers and later spending it brought against what it cost you.

Where are tracking links in Fanvue?

Under Creator Tools → Tracking Links, which is also where you create a free trial link. Fanvue lets you create unlimited tracking links, so make one for every promo, swap and drop rather than reusing one.

Should I count Fanvue followers as a promo result?

Count them separately. Followers follow for free and can't see subscriber-only content, so they aren't income yet. They are a list you can message, so follow up, then judge the promo on the subscribers and spending that follow.

How do I track subscribers from FreeVues?

Add a Fanvue tracking link named "FreeVues" to your FreeVues listing. Every click and subscriber from FreeVues then shows on your Fanvue dashboard, and your FreeVues dashboard counts the clicks too.

Do free trial subscribers from a promo stay?

Some do. By Fanvue's platform-wide figures, around a quarter of trial fans are still there at 90 days, and they spend less than paying subscribers. Judge trial promos by the paying fans left afterwards.
